On the morning of May 30th, 2024, Vietcombank Tower collaborated with the Fire Prevention and Fighting & Rescue Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City (PC07) to organize a fire drill and rescue operation with the participation of more than 2,000 people, including professional forces, related agencies, and tenants of the building.
To enhance readiness for complex fire incidents in super-high-rise office buildings, Vietcombank Tower worked with PC07 to develop a high-difficulty drill plan. For the first time, a SKY CAFS high-pressure water supply vehicle was used to supply firefighting water directly into the building's main firefighting pipeline. Additionally, autonomous robots and specialized high-capacity smoke extraction vehicles were employed to remove smoke and toxic gases caused by a basement fire. This is one of the most complex scenarios with many unexpected elements ever conducted in fire and rescue drills for super-high-rise buildings in Ho Chi Minh City.
Deployment of Professional Firefighting Equipment at Vietcombank Tower
The hypothetical scenario involved simultaneous fire outbreaks at an office on a high floor and the basement parking area. The building’s internal firefighting team quickly implemented on-site firefighting measures, announced the evacuation of the building, moved assets, provided initial first aid, and rescued the injured. Upon receiving the fire alert from the building, PC07 mobilized forces from various specialized units, deploying firefighting and rescue equipment to the scene. During the firefighting and rescue coordination, an unexpected hypothesis arose that the building's fire pump system encountered a technical fault, failing to maintain sufficient water pressure in the pipes. The building’s technical operation team reported this to the fire commander on site. Immediately, the firefighting and rescue team deployed the Skycafs high-pressure compressed air foam firefighting vehicle to supply water into the building's fire pipeline, along with high-capacity smoke extraction vehicles, autonomous firefighting robots, and rescue dogs. Concurrently, the building's technical team promptly repaired the fire pump system, restoring its normal operation in a short time and continuing to supply water for firefighting and cooling to prevent the fire from spreading. With the coordination of firefighting and rescue teams in different areas of the building, the fire was completely extinguished by 11:00 AM.
Autonomous Firefighting Robot Operating in the Hazardous Basement Area
The large-scale drill concluded successfully, leaving a strong impression on the tenants and residents of Ho Chi Minh City. Through this rehearsal, the building's internal firefighting team gained valuable experience in handling complex fire incidents and closely coordinating with functional agencies when incidents occur, enhancing the quality and reputation of the building.
